Looking forward to the break

Praise the Lord the window is completely fixed!  I definitely saved myself at least $200 in repair work!  I'm actually very ready for the semester to be over.  I'm looking forward to seeing my family and spending several days with them over the break.  It will be nice to just relax for a little bit before starting to raise support again.

Windows

My car's window on the driver's side is sitting in my room. The regulator's wire shredded itself. The motor itself is fine. I picked up a new (used) part yesterday for $25. The real trick will be putting the window & the regulator back into the door. I guess the law of entropy is at work in my car... things going from order to chaos.

Martyrs

Martyrdom is not unique to Christianity.

But some of the men who were martyred were in a position to know the truthfulness of their own written accounts -- and died anyway.

Thoughts about Jacob

I've been reading about Jacob recently.

The name Israel was given to Jacob on the night when God, in human form, wrestled with him. Constantly in the Old Testament, the Hebrew people are designated as the children of Israel. By breaking down the word "Israel", real significance can be found. Isra and El come together to mean 'ruled by God'. So Israel was the name given to Jacob when he found the secret of strength in his mastery by God.

Thus God had crippled him to crown him, had broken him to make him, had mastered him to give him majesty.

E.M. Bounds is kicking my butt

I've recently been reading "Power through prayer" by E.M. Bounds

"The Christian must go forth clothed with humility, abiding in meekness, wise as a serpent, harmless as a dove; in the bonds of a servant with the spirit of a king, a king in high, royal, independent bearing, with the simplicity and sweetness of a child."
